a call to action: become a more informed citizen
good morning...what can i say as i take a very small break from work. just a very small break as we do not really have breaks. so i will take this small moment to write about what is on my head. it is very cold in this office (if you even want to call this an office) and I have to put on my heavy jacket to keep warm, but the sleeves get in my way. what am i to do except just complain? i am listening to NPR stories. President-Elect Barack Obama has begun selecting his cabinet. Some people chosen have been Bill Richardson for Secretary of Commerce, Timothy Geithner for Treasury Secretary, Janet Napolitano possibly Secretary of Homeland Security, Hillary Rodham Clinton as Secretary of State, Larry Summers as head of the National Economic Council, Eric Holder as leader of the Justice Department and Tom Daschle as leader of the Health and Human Services Department. Some of these positions I am not quite sure about as I have relied on multiple news sources to obtain this information, so just bear with me. Michael and I have decided that we are going to keep up to date with the new administration and learn about more about what government does. What does each cabinet position do and who are members of the cabinet? You have the legislative, executive, and judicial branch...that I know...but what does each branch do...I have no idea and yet I have the audacity to cal myself an informed citizen? So I can just around and pout about my limited knowledge, or I can stand up and begin doing my homework so that I can become a more informed citizen. I voted for Barack Obama in this election because I wanted change, but I want there to be more reasons for my vote. And of course I am not going to know everything, but being alive in my opinion is the opportunity to gain more knowledge every single day. Well anyhow that ends my small break so I must return to work. Tomorrow, I am bringing a mug so that I can fill it up with hot cocoa so that I will have to be freezing at my table.
