first of the month look back 05: i hope i get to hang out with a disciple
Monday 01. August 1994
Today is the first day of August. This morning I woke up to a buzzing alarm. I took a shower and got dressed for summer school. I wore the overalls that Brette gave me with me and the blue and pink striped shirt that Michael gave me. I ate hotdogs and potato chips for breakfast. On the bus to school, I looked over the PSAT test. I'm so ready for the test. At school, I sat in the table by the window. When I took the test, I realized that this is the same test that I had taken last year. The test was divided into four sections, each being 30 minutes long. At the end of the section two, we took a 15-minute break. We got out at 11.30, so I went to walk around at Green Hills Mall. Rebekah works at Bellevue Centre. I hope to ditch Krystals and work in the mall.
While I sat down on a bench next to Caryle and Company (a perfume shop), I thought about the next time I would get to hang out with a disciple. At noon, I left the mall to venture to work. I hope I have fun at work.
At work, I worked at the front line cashier. Three cashiers were busy at work. Confort was being mean to me. Everytime I would try to get a drink, she would shove me out of the way. I then cleaned the dining room area. It took me at least an hour to do it.
At 2:19, I took my break. I get a 30-minute break. On break, I made myself lemonade. While I was on my break, I thought about how I would spend today and tomorrow afternoon. I hope that I get to spend it with disciples.
At 2:49, I went back to work. Only 2 hours and 11 minutes to go until I go home. Hooray! I told William about an incident from my childhood. He didn't laugh at me which was good. A customer ordered a Krystal for only 42 cents, but he only had 41 cents, so I paid a penny for her. She gave me a 25 cent tip which was nice. Later, Paul Dowel walked in. He had a friend name Jason with him. They wanted to hang out with me. Paul showed me his driver's licence. His picture looks like one of those members of Pavement. They told me that they'll be back at 5 to hang out but not to miss the bus if they did not.
After work, I gave Solomon a quarter. He said that he'll pay me back tomorrow. I then waited for Paul and Jason to show up. At 5:17pm, Paul showed up. He drove his mother's car. He is a good driver. He told me that he never met Jason before, but he said that he was cool. He drove me to my grandmother's house. I hope that I'll get to see him in the future.
At my grandmother's house, I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I then called people from church. Wendel, Lindsey, Ray, Michael, Xing, and Rebekah were not home. Scott was home. He was getting ready for dinner. He works tomorrow until 9pm. So we won't be able to hang out. Mary is out of town until next Sunday.
I went home and ate an apple. On the news, the abortion issue was discussed. I am against abortion. I'm also mad at people who shoot abortionists. If you're pro-life, then why kill someone? You'll be a hypocrite to your cause.
At 7pm, I watched The Simpsons. Spinal Tap appeared on the show. After that show, I wrote down songs on all of my tapes. I realized that I had the song by Pearl Jam called "Go" from Versus. So I went to my mom's room and played it on her radio. I haven't heard that song in a long time.
At 8pm, I watched Murphy Brown. This used to be my favorite show. Now I don't watch cable much. Our cable is out. Around 9:30 on 103.3FM, I heard Pearl Jam with "Daughter." This is a cool song. This song makes me think of the group that I used to hang around with. In October through December of 1993, we used to eat by the abandoned scoreboard booth. We called it people's pod. Sometimes I had to run there when it rained to keep from getting wet. Mostly everyone was part of a band. I wish I was in a band.
The group that I hung around with would play the weirdest games. One game was what I called grape volleyball. Basically one person would take a grape then spit it to the other person. The other person tries to catch in his or her mouth and then spit it back. If it falls on the ground, the person would pick it up, wipe it off and then start again. Now that's disgusting. I remember one day when Michelle Polk was eating an apple, she gave the apple to Bryan to eat and back to her. She gave me the apple to eat and then she ate the rest. Soon there was a rule prohibiting eating outside, so the group just disappeared. How sad.
On the channel 5 10 o'clock news, I found out that second-hand smoking can lead to heart diseases. I guess I need to watch out for people who smoke because I could probably end up in the hospital.
As I listened to Toad the Wet Sprocket's "Fall Down," I thought about how I would spend the week. Tomorrow, I will go to summer school and then to work. I'll try to go on break by 3pm, so that I can cash my check. After work, I'll go downtown to buy some school supplies. I'll also try to get something for Rebekah's birthday. She turns 18. Today is Jessica's birthday's 16th birthday. I'll send her a card in the mail. It will be late so I hope that she does not get mad. I hope that I can spend time with my discipler tomorrow. Now that I think about it, I need to get a ride to Thursday's party. I'll call Wendal tomorrow. I don't want people to be upset with me. I also need to find out Saturday's activity and get a ride to that, find a ride to church on Sunday, and then arrange for someone to drive me to camping in Cloudland, Georgia. I have a lot to do. I hope that everything goes ok.
At 10.46pm, as I listened to Alice in Chain's "I Stay Away," I thought of how evil and hatred can be spread from one person to another. It's sad that that happens. I hope that one day everyone will become disciples. My mom brought my sisters and I some Krystals. My Krystal had a little mustard on it. Shortly there after, I went to bed listening to 94.1 (Thunder 94).
