my favorite song
i think i may have found my favorite song...well figured out what it is. actually i found out about this song many years ago...i was in high school. i was in the marching band (oh yeah Spring 1996) and in the spring semester, it was concert season. there was this one song that we practiced and practiced and performed. it was really a defining moment for me and i think it was in the summer of 1999 that i decided to look for this song and i failed. but tonight, i have finally found the song and i can hear it in its entirity. The song is actually a classical piece and the version I found is performed by the Florida District 3 High School Honors Band of 2008 and Directed by Prof. Gary Green. Oh yeah and the song is "Alleluia! Laudamus Te". I also found out that the original composer to this song is Alfred Reed (he died on September 17th of 2005). The version performed by the mentioned school can be heard at
http:// www.imeem.com/ lyrachel/ music/ DfOKmxIt/ alfred reed alleluia laudamus te/ The sad fact though is that it will never ever sound the same as if did when I was in high school. when i heard it in high school, I was among the musicians playing it (I played the cymbals). the song starts off on a very strong beat...i mean really strong and then around the 1.12 (one minute twelve seconds) marker, there is a sense of reassurance and then a buildup. That part always got to me when we would perform it (oh yeah did I mention that I was in the Hillsboro High School marching band?). I find it conforting to hear this song after so many years. It gives me new respect for my current life. but you have to hear this song. i believe that it is my favorite song.
