recorded thoughts 04: paradise by the pond
-12.20.32-
my head is pounding as i sit outside. there is an animal...well an owl to be exact that is hooting in a nearby tree. i do not know why is is doing so. off in the distance, i can hear a dog or a duck. it sounds like a mixture of both. i am outside on my break at the picnic table. i can hear the pond water is constantly being placed into it via some sort of contraption. the dog/duck is still yelping, though the owl is no longer having a mid-afternoon discussion with itself. The breeze feels god upon my back. The sun is high above and in front of me. I can smell the tires of cars as they either merge onto I-24 or continue west onto Franklin Road. At times, the breeze will stop allowing me to become a towel soaking up the sun's rays. To my left, a stretch of trees wait patiently for their leaves to emerge. I can see through the various branches. I watch as cars travel along the portion of Thompson Lane just beside the exit from Walmart. I am on the side of the trees because their branches are covered with leaves, I can no longer see the road and I become trapped in my own paradise by the pond. I can feed the fish in the sounds of nature. Well my break is nearly done and as Garrison Keillor always says, "Be well, do good work, and keep in touch"
